Hello World…

So, I’m going to The Gambia.  Yes, I know that I typed THE in front of Gambia.  No, I’m not trying to be funny.  Yes, it really has a The in front of it. Yes the The is capitilzied, no, I don’t know why.  Yes, I know other countries don’t have it.  Right, The France sounds dumb.  I’m glad that’s clear.  We can move on.

Here it is spelled out for folks who don’t know me yet are on this blog.  I’m going to The Gambia(see that? The) at the end of june 2009 serving as an Information Technology Specialist in the education sector with the Peace Corps.   I’m so fancy.

Hey, I was a volunteer in The Gambia back in 1976–1979. It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of really great people. I worked at St. Joseph’s High School for two years and then at GAMCO (probably not there anymore) in Bakau for one year. I lived in Bakau and really felt welcomed. I hope you have a great experience. There were nine people in my group and about 30 volunteers in the country at the time.

    Wash your hands often!

    Gary
