I finally got around to getting all my C++ tests graded. The positive news is that the best grade was a 94. Thats pretty high quality in my little peace corps opinion. The flip side of that is that the worst grade was about a 2. Not about a 2. Actually a 2. Out of a hundred. So 2 is not so good. The average for the class was about 50 or so. This brings up an interesting point though. Here in The Gambia anything above a 50 is passing. If you think thats "low" then you probably aren’t aware thats a 10 point improvement on whats passing in lower education. Yes, for you math wizards at home anything above a 40 is passing in lower and upper basic schools. Neat. I’d be nice to know what the typical pass fail rate for a class is in the states, that way i know sort of where my students are.
In anycase it will probably cause some of my students to drop or stop showing up. That’s not really a bad thing and I guess it’s not really atypical. In most of my college classes we would end up with far less at the end than we started with. Who know.
winner.
